New Roots completes the immigration journey by exploring what it means to belong without abandoning our origin.
In this mixed-media assemblage, the artist brings actual fragments of a tree into the centre of the canvas. Natural wood and branches rise over woven metallic mesh, while modelling paste and metallic paint build a warm, earth-toned surface around them. The contrast between the organic material and the constructed background reflects the meeting of an original identity with a new culture.
The weathered wood still carries the evidence of its first life: its age, its environment and everything it survived. We do not replace our old roots. We carry them with us, allowing them to take hold in different soil and become part of a larger story.

Nuevas raíces completa el recorrido de la inmigración al explorar lo que significa pertenecer sin abandonar nuestro origen.
En este ensamblaje de técnica mixta, el artista incorpora fragmentos reales de un árbol en el centro del lienzo. La madera natural y las ramas se elevan sobre una malla metálica tejida, mientras la pasta de modelado y la pintura metalizada construyen a su alrededor una superficie cálida en tonos tierra. El contraste entre el material orgánico y el fondo elaborado representa el encuentro de una identidad original con una cultura nueva.
La madera desgastada todavía conserva las huellas de su primera vida: su edad, su entorno y todo lo que logró sobrevivir. No reemplazamos nuestras antiguas raíces. Las llevamos con nosotros, permitiéndoles afianzarse en una tierra diferente y convertirse en parte de una historia más amplia.
